about

Timon Botez is a Norwegian-Romanian artist based in Oslo after very many years in Boston, London and New York. Botez has been working with sound and sculpture through conceptual compositions and orchestral installations. His work is influenced by the erratic behaviour and incidental interactions in densely populated environments. With a number of different collaborators he is behind (unreleased) music projects such as Time/Date, Prehistoric man, Variable Rush Job, Dave At Home and Homo Erectus. In 2020 he released Tvilsomt Vennskap (Prisoners dilemma) as Botex on Breton Cassettes.

Tony F Wilson is a British-Jamaican producer and DJ who has collaborated with members of Seefeel, Slowdive and Sonic Youth in the musical projects Zurich and Echo Park. In 2005, Wilson produced and recorded in the apocalyptic-folk ensemble Knives ov Resistance for the Aurora Borealis label. Since moving to Oslo in 2007 he has recorded and performed in the projects Necessary with Ted Parsons (Swans, Prong, Jesu) and Human Inferno with David Gurrik (whose long delayed LP will be released on iDeal this year).

Botex Spykidelic is entirely comprised from edits of improvisations using acoustic as well as electronic instruments and tape loops. Recorded in Timon's Oslo basement, the results draw in equal measure from Timon's work in acousmatic sound design as much Wilson's sound system roots (his father recorded with Black Volts for Dennis Bovell's Arawak label and was in-house producer for his own Roots Connection imprint).
